Job Description

    Level II Technicians will provide IT onsite and remote support of computer hardware, operating systems, networks, and application software. Must be able to setup, configure, and install computer desktops, laptops, servers, and mobile devices in a LAN/WAN environment. Ability to configure and secure networks using routers, firewalls, and switches required. Experience troubleshooting and resolving computer and network issues in a remote and onsite environment.

Traffic Signal Technician

Position Overview

    The Traffic Signal Technician has training and experience on traffic signal control system troubleshooting, on-site repairs, and maintenance methods and equipment. Areas of experience include worksite safety, maintenance of traffic, traffic signal system equipment standards and operation, installation inspection, troubleshooting, equipment repair, replacement and programming, test equipment, signal phasing and timing, detection, system communications, preventive maintenance, and documentation. The candidate will also have had additional training on traffic signal control system construction, safety, materials, methods, and equipment. Activities covered include: safe operation of construction equipment (from concrete saws to cranes), planning activities, documentation, and installation of conduits, poles, mast arms, signal heads, cabinets, and inductive loops. Setup and testing of a new signal installation is also a plus. Experience should cover both new installations as well as repairs.

Position Specifics

  • Ability to perform standby and emergency call duty.
  • Lead installation of new traffic signal equipment as well as emergency troubleshooting
  • Trouble shoot and repair/replace/re program existing traffic signal equipment
  • Make repairs to or re-configure existing signalized intersections
  • Assists in interpretation of plans and specifications prior to installation and assists in developing project take off as well as assisting with inventory management
  • Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs communications systems associated with traffic signal controllers (ex. SSR, Broadband Radio, POTS)
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations relevant to assigned area of responsibility including NEC and VA MUTCD as well as VA WAPM maintenance of traffic rules
  • Learn and understand VDOT Specifications and Standards where applicable to traffic signal installation and repair.
  • Experience in the methods, materials, and techniques used in the construction of utilities and road way projects.

Applicant Requirements

  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Certification in Traffic Signals or ability to obtain certification within one year of start date of employ
  • Minimum of two years as a Traffic Signal Technician or equivalent position, some experience may be substituted by a combination of other traffic operations related skills, electrical experience, or supervisory experience
  • Valid VA Driver’s License, Class B or Class A CDL will add value but is not a requirement.
  • Basic Hand Tools required for electrical work
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screens. In the case of a work related injury, drug screens will be required both after the accident and prior to returning to duty.

  • Traffic Signal Technicians- Level I, II and III

Job duties will entail installing and maintaining systems and devices throughout the state of Virginia in facilities and along our roadways. You must be willing to travel throughout the state for a minimum of 5 days at a time.
